Sobhi Braidy After the Hurricane Andrew inHome Depot managers take a chain of decisions that will kept the price of materials sold by their stores same as before the Hurricane, taking as the most of other stores in Florida where the Hurricane strike increase the price of building materials such as plywood, sheets of exterior and other building materials by 28 percent.

In this case, the stakeholders in Home Depot stores are absolutely affected by this decision in many ways positively and negatively in the same time.

As stakeholders, the owners affected by this decision in two different ways, they will affected by a huge number of buyers that will discard the other stores and go to Home Depot stores to buy the needed materials in a normal price but in other point of view a decision like this one may cost the store the loss of a big opportunity to make a high profit because this situation not always or everyday available it may be one time in a period of 10 or 20 years so they must use it to make more profit.

But in my opinion I think that Home Depot decision come from an act of a good ethics not simply shrewd business because in these cases we must follow some ethical decisions that will help the people and not take their problems to make money for our self, this is my ethical opinion, but other executives maybe will raise objections in the business thinking so they can raise the price and make a high return in only few hours.

After all that, we must say that such decision can make a big difference in the life of the Home Depot stores in the future because on a long-term view this decision will help Home Depot to get an advantage on the other stores and catch a high numbers of customers depending on its ethical decision and ethical history.

Finally we could say to Home Depot managers and all other businesses that there is a social obligation from you toward the people that living with your organizations or stores in the same place and help you get bigger and stronger in the market even if there is a charitable organizations or a government duty toward the citizens you must take also ethical decisions like this one to go bigger and stronger in the future.Home Depot: Good Ethics or Shrewd Business?
