History[ edit ] Link Trainer. The first uses of medical simulation can be traced back to the first time that a person utilized something other than a patient in order to train, hone, or sustain medical skills.
Each one addresses a specific need. They also have their Types of simulations issues and uses. Employers need to decide which one they wish to use that will best serve the strategic needs of their organization. Here are the six different kinds of simulations for you to choose from.
Total Enterprise Simulations These simulations deal with modeling most business functions. They can be divided into four categories - strategic management, business appreciation, tactical management, and totality simulation. There are five different kinds of simulations that you can use to train your employees.
Strategic management Strategic simulations involve the strategic management aspect of the business. These may be spread over a course or be run in a single session.
The decisions deal with finance, marketing, product design, etc. These simulations involve groups of learners interacting with each other.
Business appreciation These simulations help in developing business acumen and financial knowledge. They are not too complex. The decisions the employees need to make may be basic, but the financial consequence of the decisions is emphasized.
Tactical management As the name suggests, they cover the tactical management aspect of the business. It deals with the internal management aspect. The simulation model is complex and allows the learners to experience the daily operation of the entire business.
Totality simulation These simulations try to replicate the entire operation of the business in totality. They combine the strategic and tactical aspects of the business. They are pretty complex as they deal with the entire business. Functional Simulations Functional simulations concentrate on a particular area, like sales or marketing or operations.
Unlike general management decisions, functional simulations focus on a vertical slice of the business. In this type of simulation, some decisions have strategic importance and some have tactical relevance. Concepts Simulations As the name suggests, this simulation emphasizes specific business concepts.
For example, a new product launch or the operations of a factory unit are types of concept simulation. They are short and simple simulations involving three to four decisions. It involves learners to enter their decisions in their computers and receiving the results.
Planning Simulations This simulation comprises of preparing business plans with what-if models. Learners apply what they have learned and explore the dynamics of the business. Even though the overall process is the same, the time that is allocated for the plan is not set and the number is not predefined.
The time does not move forward when the assumptions are put in. Process Simulations Process simulations involve using mathematical techniques like statistical forecasting, analysis of sales performance, and inventory planning.
They focus on the fact that using a quantitative analysis method is only a part of any job. Learners will need to consider the practical aspects, too.
It deals with working with several different kinds of data and finding patterns, discussing the various implications, and producing outcomes. At Designing Digitally, Inc. We do a thorough need analysis before suggesting the right simulated solution for you.

By Designing Digitally, Inc.PhET Interactive Simulations PhET, based at the University of Colorado at Boulder, offers over three dozen chemistry-based simulations. Users can search by subject and grade level. Hybrid Simulations ↑ This type of simulation optimizes the educational experience by merging Standardized Patients with Task Trainers.
This combination allows students to practice technical skills and people skills at the same time. There are many types of computer simulations; their common feature is the attempt to generate a sample of representative scenarios for a model in which a complete enumeration of all possible states of the model would be prohibitive or impossible.

Each period, decisions are submitted to a simulation.
